    I believe it is a branch from a tree which had a mud/clay base, cast between Eastern Han Dynasty and 6 Dynasties. Coins on branches have Wu Zhu style of coin image.
    This tree is not for coin issuing. It is probably issued for ornamental or commemorative purposes. And the "coins" on them are not the normal-issue coins anyway.

Click to enlarge Click to enlarge I received two images from James Farr (01-Aug-99). Those two items seems to be very similar to above money-tree by style and condition, especially phoenix. Possibly, monkey and phoenix are from one serie with money-tree, used as ornamental items.

Any additional information highly appreciated.
