  • In Nguyen's dynasty, the second Emperor of the dynasty, Emperor Minh Mang was the first Emperor who minted large copper coins with 4 or 8 good-luck Chinese characters on the reverse side. Emperor Gia Long never minted any large round coins in copper, silver or gold.
